The fundamental science on vehicular power system laboratory was founded in June 2007. And it is the first batch of key disciplines laboratory of the ministry of defense and technology bureau and is a teaching and scientific research in institution established for the basic research and original innovation research of military vehicle power system.

     In recent years, this laboratory completed a number of national defense research, such as 973/863/innovation program, according to the development trend of military vehicle power system technology. And it has achieved outstanding results. Such as the development of the first two stage turbocharged diesel engine with electronic control protection, which can realize the optimization of adaptive control at the whole country. Meanwhile, it has become the Power set for the new generation light tank of china. And it has established the integrated design theory and platform, which leads the forefront of the design of military power system and won the 2rd and 3rd order government ministry prize of advancement of science and technology three times and six times respectively.
