Key Laboratory of High Efficiency and Low Emission Engine Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, is established in 2016. The key laboratory is established on the research base and research platform of the conventional preponderant discipline Power engineering and engineering thermal physics of Beijing Institute of Technology, facing the key technology and the generic technology concerning the efficiency enhancement of internal combustion engine.

The key laboratory sets up three backbone subjects including, 1) the internal combustion engine, combustion and emission control technology, 2) suppression technology of lightweight design and vibration noise and 3) new technology and new power system technology. In the above three subjects, the key laboratory obtains provincial scientific and technological awards 15 items, including 4 pieces of the first prize of national defense science and technology progress, 3 pieces of the second prize of national defense science and technology progress, 2 pieces of the third prize of national defense science and technology progress, 2 pieces of the second prize for science & technology development/achievement of the ministry of education, and 4 pieces of other provincial second award.
