    Personal biography

Dr. SONG Mengjie, Leader of Frost Lab, full Professor of Department of Energy and Power Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), China. He is also the DECRA Researcher in Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC), Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, University of Wollongong, Australia. Prof. SONG got the Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees from Hunan University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, respectively. Before starting the research work in BIT in 2019, he worked in the Guangdong University of Technology, Nanyang Technological University and the University of Tokyo as an Associate Professor, Research Fellow and JSPS Research Fellow, respectively. Additionally, he acted as a visiting professor in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and a guest researcher at Tianjin University and Shanghai University of Science and Technology in 2016, 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Prof. SONG focuses on the mechanism study of heat and mass transfer coupled with the flow for more than 10 years. On the topic of frosting and defrosting for air source heat pump, he proposed series of definitions to describe thermophysical phenomena, such as even/uneven frosting/defrosting, and frosting/defrosting evenness value. His current research interests include solidification of water droplets at different scales and (anti-/de)icing for aircraft surface, pumped two-phase cooling system with multi-circuit micro-channel heat exchangers around flow boiling, frosting and defrosting for a multi-circuit heat exchanger in refrigeration systems, and thermal comfort for buildings and energy storage with phase change materials, etc.

Currently, he has published 95 journal articles, in which 76 ones are SCI, with 50 ones as first/corresponding author, and 7 papers were ESI. The total citation of his Google Scholar reaches 1472, with h-index at 25. He was invited to write a book and three chapters for Elsevier, and present in more than 10 universities, such as the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Czech Republic. He applied for more than 10 Chinese patents, and successfully received 7 funding as sole-PI. He participated in projects from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, and Australia. The total amount of the project is up to 17 million yuan. He also services for several international academic journals as Editors and member of Editorial Board, and reviewed for more than 40 ones.
