An online symposium was held for undergraduates of armored vehicle engineering

An inline symposium was held in the afternoon of 29th December. Ninety-three faculty and students attended the meeting, including the professor teaching group and undergraduate students from Class of 2023 and 2024. To better educate undergraduate students, courses, curriculums, B.S. degree programs, as well as advices and suggestions from students, were widely discussed in the meeting. Prof. Cheng Liu, vice-director of the special vehicle research institute, hosted the meeting.

In the meeting, Prof. Liu thoroughly explained the training objective, requirement of graduation and undergraduate program (2020) of armored vehicle engineering. He first set out curriculum systems for each training objective and the corresponding teaching modules, and then highlighted premium courses, instruction practice and science-teaching integration. Prof. Liu then gave a detailed explanation on the requirements and schedule of internship, undergraduate tutorial project and bachelor’s dissertation in the incoming Spring semester.

Students mainly cared about the schedule of internship. Due to Covid-19, tank assembly and driving, production and manufacturing procedure were all switched online and conducted by simulation, which did not achieve a satisfying expectation. In post-covid era, academic advisors were busy contacting with internship partners to ensure that students could take internships in February as soon as possible. This symposium helped undergraduates fully understand the programs, teaching schedule and curriculums of the major, and gave thorough explanations to teaching and talent cultivation that students most concerned about.
